MARINARA SAUCE
This classic marinara sauce inspired by my great uncle Garibaldi does not disappoint!
INGREDIENTS
- 1 onion
- 4 tsp olive oil
- 1 can tomatoes
- 1 can tomato sauce
- 1 tsp oregano
- A handful of fresh basil
- squeeze of lemon 🍋
- salt and pepper to taste
Be sure to use a quality brand of tomatoes 🍅 I use Mutti from Italy. It’s superb!
Method
- Chop vegetables
- Add olive oil to skillet
- Saute basil quickly and remove with strained spoon
- saute onions
- Add garlic and cook until onions are transparent
- Add tomatoes 🍅 chopping bigger pieces with your wooden spoon
- Add tomato sauce
- Add oregano
- Add strained basil and lemon
- Season to taste
